Bill Greehey Arena, part of the 135,000-square-foot Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center, honors the winning traditions of the St. Mary's men's and women's teams.
Along with the 3,800-seat capacity, a hospitality suite overlooks the spacious arena. The Bill Greehey Arena was the first NCAA Division II facility in the country to have video board capability. Two single-faced video boards are located on opposite corners to maximize viewing from anywhere in the arena, making the arena an ideal destination for regional, national and international competition. Among the prime-time events hosted at Bill Greehey Arena have been the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight and the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, and it is also scheduled to once again host the Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight in 2013.
The center is named in recognition of the largest capital gift of $3.1 million made by the St. Mary's Alumni Association, as well as the dedicated leadership, commitment and personal contributions of capital campaign chairman Bill Greehey, honored in naming the arena.
The basketball court inside Bill Greehey Arena is named "Buddy and Anna Meyer Court" in honor of the legendary former St. Mary's men's basketball coach and his wife. The court was dedicated in their honor during a ceremony on Feb. 19, 2007.
Bill Greehey Arena is part of The Park at St. Mary's, the University's brand-new sporting venue.
